Kuwait Independence

In June 1961, Kuwait became independent with the end of the British protectorate and the sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became an Emir. … Kuwait was the first Arab state in the Persian Gulf to establish a constitution and parliament. In the 1960s and 1970s, Kuwait was the most developed country in the region.

Kuwait Flag

The flag of Kuwait was adopted on September 7, 1961, and officially hoisted November 24, 1961. Before 1961, the flag of Kuwait was red and white, like those of other Persian Gulf states at the time, with the field being red and words or charges being written in white.

Cut, copy and paste inventor dies at 74

Larry Tesler was also Apple’s chief scientist

The computer scientist Larry Tesler, who is famous for inventing the computer concepts cut, copy and paste, has passed away at age 74.
Tesler was born in New York in 1945 and he studied computer science at Stanford. After graduation, he worked in the university’s genetics and computer science departments before becoming a research assistant at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

In 1973, Tesler joined Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and this is where he developed cut, copy and paste. These concepts were instrumental in the development of text editors and early computer operating systems.
This is how to copy and paste on a Mac and on Windows
Mac in time: 35 years of Apple’s legendary Macintosh
Google Chrome will soon let you copy text on one device and paste it on another

While cut, copy and paste were developed at PARC, the research center is more well known for its early work on graphical user interfaces and using a mouse to navigate them because Apple co-founder Steve Jobs used many of its ideas as inspiration for Apple’s products. In fact, Tesler was even part of some of Jobs’ visits to Xerox.

Modeless computing

In addition to creating cut, copy and paste, Tesler was also a big proponent of a concept called “modeless” computing. Basically modeless computing revolves around the idea that a program should not have different “modes” where a user’s input works differently depending on which mode they’re in.
According to Tesler’s personal website, he and a colleague named Tim Mott developed the idea while working on the Gypsy text editor back at PARC. He was such a big believer in modeless computing that the URL of his site is actually nomodes.com.
Tesler joined Apple in 1980 and he worked at the company until 1997 where he eventually rose to the role of Chief Scientist. During that time, he worked on a number of products including the Macintosh, QuickTime, Lisa and even the Newton tablet. The Macintosh and Lisa were the first personal computers ever to include cut, copy and paste functionality as a result of Tesler’s involvement in their development.
After leaving Apple in 1997, Tesler had several short stints at a number of other big companies including Amazon, Yahoo!, 23andMe and others.
Tesler’s contribution to computing won’t be forgotten any time soon as the concepts of cut, copy and paste have become fundamental to how we use computers and even smartphones today.

One of the best messages I have read in recent times :) SUPERB!

Time Will Come !

New York is 3 hrs ahead of California but it does not mean that California is slow, or that New York is fast. Both are working based on their own “Time Zone.” Some one is still single. Someone got married and ‘waited’ 10 yrs before having a child, there is another who had a baby within a year of marriage.

Someone graduated at the age of 22, yet waited 5 years before securing a good job; and there is another who graduated at 27 and secured employment immediately ! Someone became CEO at 25 and died at 50 while another became a CEO at 50 and lived to 90 years.

Everyone works based on their ‘Time Zone’,People can have things worked out only according to their pace.

Work in your “time zone”. Your Colleagues, friends, younger ones might “seem” to go ahead of you. May be some might “seem” behind you. Don’t envy them or mock them, it’s their ‘Time Zone.’

You are in yours!

Hold on, be strong, and stay true to yourself. All things shall work together for your good. You’re not late … You are not early … you’re very much On time!😊👍stay blessed.

You Are In Your Time Zone….🌐

What is Moringa?

Moringa is a plant that is native to areas of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. It is also grown in the tropics. The leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, seeds, and root are used to make medicine.

Moringa is taken by mouth for “tired blood” (anemia), arthritis and other joint pain (rheumatism), asthma, cancer, constipation, diabetes, diarrhea, seizures, stomach pain, stomach and intestinal ulcers, intestinal spasms, headache, heart problems, high blood pressure, kidney stones, symptoms of menopause, thyroid disorders, and infections.

Moringa is also taken by mouth to reduce swelling, as an antioxidant, to prevent spasms, increase sex drive (as an aphrodisiac), prevent pregnancy, boost the immune system, and increase breast milk production. Some people use it as a nutritional supplement or tonic. It is also used as a “water pill” (diuretic).

Moringa is sometimes applied directly to the skin as a germ-killer or drying agent (astringent). It is also applied to the skin for treating pockets of infection (abscesses), athlete’s foot, dandruff, gum disease (gingivitis), snakebites, warts, and wounds.

Oil from moringa seeds is used in foods, perfume, and hair care products, and as a machine lubricant.

Moringa is an important food source in some parts of the world. Because it can be grown cheaply and easily, and the leaves retain lots of vitamins and minerals when dried, moringa is used in India and Africa in feeding programs to fight malnutrition. The immature green pods (drumsticks) are prepared similarly to green beans, while the seeds are removed from more mature pods and cooked like peas or roasted like nuts. The leaves are cooked and used like spinach, and they are also dried and powdered for use as a condiment.

The seed cake remaining after oil extraction is used as a fertilizer and to purify well water and to remove salt from seawater.

TAKEN BY MOUTH:

Asthma. Early research shows that taking 3 grams of moringa twice daily for 3 weeks reduces the severity of asthma symptoms and improves lung function in adults with mild to moderate asthma.

Diabetes. Early research shows that taking moringa tablets along with a type medicine called sulfonylureas does not improve blood sugar control better than taking sulfonylureas alone in people with diabetes.

Increasing breast milk production. Research regarding the effects of moringa for increasing breast milk production is conflicting. Some early research shows that moringa increases milk production, while other early research shows no benefit. An analysis of data from five clinical studies shows that moringa moderately increases milk product after one week of use when started on postpartum day 3. But it’s not clear if moringa is beneficial when used for longer periods of time.

Malnutrition. Early research shows that adding moringa powder to food for 2 months helps improve weight in malnourished children.

Menopausal symptoms. Early research shows that adding fresh moringa leaves to food for 3 months improves menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and sleeping problems in healthy, postmenopausal women.

Prevention is better than cure

Every year during the winter season a number of families in Pakistan suffocate to death due to keeping the gas heaters on for the whole night during sleep and it is so mainly because the majority of our population is unaware of the precautionary measures needed to avoid losses while using gas heaters.
Gas heaters release emissions such as carbon monoxide directly into the room, increase the level of indoor pollutants, which can potentially harm your health including a high incidence of respiratory symptoms.
Gas heaters also consume oxygen while burning, causing lower amounts of oxygen in the room if not properly ventilated. Poisoning can also result due to leakage of gas heaters accidentally in close rooms.
Some people are more susceptible than others to suffer health effects such as heart disease patients, asthmatics, pregnant ladies, children and elderly, explained Head of Community Medicine at CMH Lahore Medical College Professor Dr. Muhammad said that Carbon monoxide is invisible, odorless, colorless and tasteless gas, so is difficult to detect. It is highly poisonous and deprives the body of oxygen. The individual is rendered completely helpless without warning and without feeling that he is being gassed. Thus, one may become unconscious during sleep and ultimately die, he said.
He added that if the level of Carbon monoxide in a room goes above the ‘safe levels’, people with heart disease may get chest pain or angina. Smokers with heart disease are, particularly at risk. Young children, unborn babies and the elderly may also be affected, said Dr. Ashraf.
He adds exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Symptoms include tiredness, shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness, nausea, muscle weakness, confusion, etc. while exposure to extremely high levels of carbon monoxide can result in death. He said several deaths every year in

winter due to carbon monoxide poisoning can be avoided if some simple safety measures are ensured.
Talking of precautionary measures, he said the room needs to be well ventilated. Keep internal doors and at least one window open to allow fresh air to enter the room. Check that room vents are not blocked. Turn off all gas appliances before going to sleep. Never keep gas heaters on while to bed. Ensure that the gas supply is disconnected from the main. Even the ‘pilot’ should not be kept ‘On’. If the gas leakage is suspected, it should be detected by gas smell or by the sound of escaping gas and not by the application of naked lights, he said.
He added that if gas leakage is suspected, open doors and windows to ventilate the area, turn off all consumer safety shut off valves and the meter shut off valves and report immediately to gas authorities. Never use rubber pipes to gas equipment, he said.
He said the best option to minimize the bad effects of gas heaters, one should minimize the length of time that gas heater is used. Have your gas heater serviced at least once a year? Heaters that are not in good working order can release higher amounts of pollutants into your room, he said. “If possible, avoid the use of gas heaters.”
Professor Ashraf said that suspected cases of gas poisoning should be removed

How do you detect a gas leak?

The most tell-tale sign of a leak is the smell of gas in your home. There may also be some clear signs from your household appliances that indicate a leak, even if you can’t smell gas. If the flame is a tired-looking orange or yellow color rather than crisp and blue, this can signal an issue. If the pilot light always seems to blow out, there could be an issue. On the outside of the appliance, keep an eye out for soot or any black or brown scorched areas. Watch out for excessive condensation on the windows, or a musty smell in the air.

In order to protect your house & family get a gas leak detector.
